The 7th Parachute Bn, formed in November 1942, provided one of the core battalions to the British 6th Airborne Division. Beyond taking part in famed battles such as the capture of Pegasus Bridge on June 6, 1944, and the massive airborne assault across the Rhine River in March 1945, the battalion was composed of individuals to include Britain’s first Black paratrooper and a soon-to-be actor of Hollywood fame. With the passing of the battalion’s last surviving veteran in 2023, it is now more important than ever to tell the story of the unit.
