The first law enforcement officers of Northborough, Massachusetts were part-time volunteers known as the Committee to Pursue Thieves. Over the course of the following two centuries, the department transformed into a modern police force with rigorous standards and dedicated professionals. This project, initially researched and written at the request of the agency, not only tracks the development of the police department, but seeks to tell the story of the men and women who have policed Northborough since the late 18th Century.
